Quick Denali update…. she was starting to hit the bars on that shelf so tonight we moved her to the lowest shelf possible in this particular greenhouse. She now measures 16 and 1/8 inches! That’s ~1 inch in 11 days!
You can see in the photos I still have her on the heat pad which, in-between that and the light, the greenhouse stays in the 70’s temperature wise. She now has more room to grow tall… hubby is already dreading the day we get into customized greenhouses. Although I was reading a research paper the other day that suggested growing Arums by heating the base (like I am doing with the pad) is actually enough to keep them warm even if the air temp is not ideal. So we may be skipping the greenhouse soon enough.
In the mean time I just received another eagerly anticipated book in the mail which I will dive into soon… The Genus ARUM by Peter Boyce from the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew. Kew was in fact the first place to have a Titan bloom in captivity and they have done a lot to further the research so I’m looking forward to this book!
That’s all for now and hope you are enjoying the updates!
Poor Denali hitting the bars!
After the move to the lowest shelf.
